One-Voice,

We were on the same football team where we practiced with each other once,

I was a senior and he was a freshman,

I still remember the first full pads practice we had where we lined up across from each other on the line,

we called mostly pass plays during that practice,

while he didn’t get by me and disrupt any passes he drove me back off the line during plays were the pass protection that was called was for us to keep defenders on the line,

I had three more years of experience playing on the line at that level and three more years of experience in the weight room preparing to play on the line at that level than him and he still drove me back off the line,

the year prior I went against an all conference defensive lineman that I stalemated on the line,

a stalemate usually goes to the defensive lineman when deciding who did better especially on the run plays where we stalemated,

my brother though,

my younger brother,

he drove me back off the line,

during that same practice and although I don’t remember those plays as well we lined up on the same side of the line and I think those plays mean more to me now than any other plays that I played wearing full pads,

the only other plays that were better than that were when we played 8-man football at center street park without pads and we had me on one side of my older brother who is at center and my younger brother on the other side,

we scored on almost every possession when the three of us played together like that,

every play is your last,

from the first play to the last play that hasn’t been played yet,

you can play all of them,

they can play all of them,

One-Line,

One-Heart,

One-Soul,

One-Love,

I live,
