Throw it like those cannonballs that have chains attached to them, 

a spinning line of special beam cannon that is cutting everything into pieces as it flys with the starting point and ending point going end over end,

cause you point when you throw it and that location to start would be the starting point and then when you move and point to another location you would release with more or less velocity being applied to the energy with enough suddenness that that the line created would rotate as the energy is a solid beam and would be similar to those two cannonballs attached together by a chain that can be shot out of a cannon,
